Poking Fun at Our Pain - Sensitive Topics

"As you know, the government has to make 40 percent of what you. The other 60 percent, which is of course borne by the gas stations," jokes Jay Leno, who is regularly on The Tonight Show from funny to current events.

Why do we need about the high price of gasoline or other sensitive issues, laugh struck a nerve? One theory on why we laugh, is called "Incongruity Theory," expects earnings and another occurs. The same principle causes great stress.

Most of us think the expectationhow our lives will unfold. Without warning and without our consent, life changing events take us for a loop. We are forced to dilemmas that we tolerate innocent from the discharge. If life is not fair to treat us, building frustration and tension. Humor is a healthy release for negative emotions. Experience teaches us, if we are not able to change our situation, we could laugh about it.

Laugh at the high gas prices:

• releases tension caused ...our frustration is not with a control with high prices.

• deals with our irritation ... because we are to leave this area and can not do without them.

• Adapting our view ... protects us from feeling personally attacked or affected by the recognition we are all aligned.

• Calms the anxiety, our finances ... laughing face of fear, gives us a mental break from the panic and fear of reality for a moment, and here we can adjust to focus on solutions(Carpooling, bus ride, we plan our errands more efficiently)

• relieve pain ... our wallets at the pump

• diffuses anger ... go to the gas station not to ruin our day.

• It helps us cope ... with a joke about it, but they can be the best of us,

• restore our power and enables us to meet the challenge.

What are the causes of your pain? Setbacks, by learning a new computer system, heavy workload, inadequateBudgets, the feeling misunderstood or unnoticed, health issues, the balance between family and work, personal relationships or family, to name a few?

My husband and I specifically insights and advice for our four grown children, who do not always fall on our wisdom. Anyway, we have weathered from their pain and dilemmas suffered by the spring of their decisions. Not long ago, the 24-year-old son thanked me for lending my ear. He confessed: "Mom, you do not know how oftenhave prevented me from something really stupid. "

My stunned face Andy asked again: "I can see that you do not believe me. Trust me. I did not just hear what you say, but I followed your advice."

If I had not "dumb-struck" by his revelation, I had asked: "Have you represent, what you can just escape into writing so that I can for future reference?

Is it possible that we maintain a little control over seemingly uncontrollable situations?Rest assured, the development of our sense of humor equips us to see the funny, if it is not funny, so we can giggle at the irony of life. And laughter can take the edge off of some of the painful situations we have to be overcome.
