Many Saw the Joke As Letterman Himself

There are different views on whether parents should spank their children for misbehavior - but most child psychologists agree on one thing - a child should never be lost of anger - such an act crossed the line and is considered to be unfair.

I am reminded - of all things - by the recent controversy, the comedian David Letterman - who crossed the border by a sexist "joke" with the 14-year-old daughter of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Letterman is a liberal, if itcomes to his policies and a large part of his "humor" is directed at conservatives - and especially Governor Palin. Regardless Governor Palin is a public person - seen by many as his "jokes" about the governor and her family sexist, mean spirited, and insulting.

The recent flap forced to apologize for the comic, the Palin family for one of his jokes - but only after protests and demonstrations for his release outside the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York (where Letterman tapes hisShow) won broad support from the spectators.

Some demonstrators held signs which are on Letterman as a "dirty old man" or worse. CBS felt the heat, even when financial sponsors began the Letterman show (including Olive Garden restaurants), their ads.

A concerned Letterman tried to explain the "joke" and the public blamed for misunderstanding the point. The comic said he was not referring to Governor Palin's 14-year-old daughter Willow as aHis "Knocked Up" in the joke - but Palin's 18-year-old daughter Bristol.

Oh yeah, that makes sense.

For the record became the Letterman joke: During a recent trip to New York - the governor's daughter (he did not identify) was the daughter of "Knocked Up" of baseball player Alex Rodriguez during the 7th Inning at Yankee Stadium in New York. News reports previously identified 14 years old Willow as the daughter who accompanied her mother to the game.

Late night political humormostly funny - but seldom a political joke in such an outpouring of protest has led to an odd - and for good reason - 14-year-old girls should be taboo.

Some may recall that 1970 to two incidents former Congressman, that the comic trend started to political humor.

As chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Rep. Wilbur Mills (D-Ark) was a powerful member of Congress. Early on the morning of the 9th October 1974, was stopped by the MillsU.S. Park Police for a breach from.

As civil servants, the car, a local stripper - as identified Fann Fox approached - leapt from the car and ran into the Tidal Basin near the Jefferson Memorial. Mills blamed the incident on alcoholism - but comedians never looked back on the political humor.

A few years later - the chairman of the House Administration Committee - Wayne Hays (D-Ohio) made front-page news when it was announced that his secretary - Elizabeth Ray - was also hisMistress.

Tonight Show host Johnny Carson had to show one day on the field when Mrs. Ray said the nation: "I can not be entered. I can not file. I can not even answer the phone."

Carson went to have fun at politicians bag for the rest of his television career - including former Senator Gary Hart, former Vice President Dan Quayle, the Kennedy family and his good friends, Nancy and former President Ronald Reagan. But be aware Carson never let his personal opinions or political affiliations, and his humor was never personally sexually.

Some enjoy Letterman's style of humor and he will continue to have a large following. Let's hope that is abusive remarks about teenage girls were not part of the plot.
